Web site updated!

Finally. I was a little embarassed about my Web site and not having updated it in a few years. What do they say about the cobbler's children. . .

I still have to update my gallery and inventory list. I've spent quite a bit of time this winter working on new yarn and knitting up some interesting sweaters. Check it out at www.veravidenovich.com. There's a separate site for the farm at www.videnovichfarms.com.

Me 'n' the girls last winter. They usually don't ignore me like this. Must've been all the company that came to visit or the bagels that photographer Grace was feeding them. That sweater is over 10 years old and made of my first handspun samples from several breeds of sheep and no dyes. The hat? Russian Army surplus and very warm great for Michigan winters.

Here's to Ewe

This winter is taking it's toll. Besides being never ending, my favorite Corriedale ewe passed away. She was a gift from someone leaving their farm for a more urban setting and became very dear to me.

Here's a photo of her either begging for snacks or wanting her nose touched:

She La La!

I've been working on new yarn.

I went thrifting and found a $3 crock pot. This week I finally loaded it up with roving , drizzled some Jacquard acid dyes in layers,

cooked it up for six hours

and came up with this:

After spinning it turned into:

Ok, I don't know how many members showed up but I attended the Michigan Sheep Breeders Association's Shepherd's Weekend in Lansing last weekend.

I ran into Susan Pufpaff (www.yurtboutique.com) and bought some of her beautiful yellow/orange roving:
.
It was calling my name, along with a beautiful green/blue batting.

I started spinning as soon as I got back to Chicago and came up with some nice single-ply yarn from the former.

Of course I'm still working on the box of core roving I got back from Ohio Valley Natural Fibers, they blended some of Melody Reitz's brown llama fiber with my softest wool fleece.

It's a dream to spin and I'm sure lots of knitters would like it spun chunky but llama is way to warm (you'd sweat to death). I'm hoping to finish the lot by the end of the month and am not sure if I'm going to knit up something with it or offer the yarn for sale.
